Even though Pemberton defeated the Bordentown Regional High School varsity golf team 169-193 in last Thursday’s opener (for Bordentown) at Fountain Green, the Scotties took away plenty of positives from the match.
In fact, Lauren Nucera shot an excellent score of 49.
"I was happy with her (Nucera) score," said Bordentown first-year Coach Rob Shappell, who believes Nucera has an excellent shot at qualifying for the state tournament this season.
Pat Kwelty posted Bordentown’s best score with a 45. And Ryan Pina recorded a score of 47.
"I’m really pleased with Ryan’s (Pina) performance," said Coach Shappell. "He’s really playing some nice golf."
Bordentown’s Eric Timm shot a 52. The Scotties scores are usually a little lower, but Fountain Green is a tough course.
Their (Pemberton) course is more challenging for us than ours is," said Coach Shappell, who was pleased by his team’s overall performance.
Pemberton’s Kevin Kaufman was the medal winner with an unbelievable score of 31.
Bordentown’s match scheduled at Willingboro last Friday was cancelled. And the Scotties match at McCorristin this past Monday was snowed out. Bordentown is scheduled to host New Egypt on Wednesday, Rancocas Valley on Friday and Cinnaminson on Monday. On Tuesday, Bordentown is scheduled at Moorestown.
