PLAINSBORO — Carl Monroe "Smitty" Smith died Monday at Tandem Healthcare of Lawrence. He was 81.
   Born in Harford, Pa., he was a longtime Plainsboro resident.
   The son of a dairy farmer, he grew up in Juliustown, where he later worked for Walker-Gordon Farms.
   He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in Saipan and the Philippines.
   Following his military discharge in 1946, he moved to Plainsboro, where he continued his career at Walker-Gordon Farms. He also maintained the school grounds at the Plainsboro Elementary School. After the closing of Walker-Gordon, he worked at Firmenich Inc. in Plainsboro until his retirement.
   He was an avid gardener, and every summer delivered baskets of fresh tomatoes, green beans, beets, squash and other vegetables to family and friends. He also liked taking weekly trips to the Columbus Farmers Market.
   An active member of the Plainsboro Seniors Club, he enjoyed providing ice cream desserts for the club’s potluck socials.
   Son of the late Harley Smith Sr. and Olive Carpenter Smith, brother of the late Harley Smith Jr. of Plainsboro, uncle of the late R. Barry Smith and Gary P. Smith, he is survived by nephews Wayne R. Smith, Gregg D. Smith and Ronald A. Smith; cousins Mildred O’Kane and Rena Mumford; and dear friends Kenneth and Flo Durland, Robert and Martha Watlington and family, and Patricia Dohanic and family. He was predeceased by close friend "Buck" Watlington.
   Burial was in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Tillye Braun Klaben of Princeton died Sunday at St. Mary Medical Center, Middletown Township, Pa. She was 91.
   Born in Westoff, Texas, she was a former resident of Washington, D.C., Ventnor, Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Bensalem, Pa.
   She was a Library of Congress employee in Washington, D.C.
   She was former president of B’nai B’rith Women and Hadassah, where she received the Myrtle Wreath Award; board member of Technion; and was honored for 50 years of service to the National Jewish Asthma Hospital in Denver.
   She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Johns Hopkins University.
   Wife of the late Reuben Klaben, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law Norma and Philip Papier of Princeton; son and daughter-in-law Marc and Lois Klaben of Princeton; grandchildren Pamela Gelbert, Paul Papier, Patti Adler and Josh Klaben; and great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Alex Gelbert, Laura and Kevin Adler, John Henry and Courtney Shaw.
   The funeral and burial will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Adelphia, Md.
   Visitation will be at the Norma and Philip Papier residence 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
   Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah or Jewish Women International.
   Arrangements are by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing.
William E. Wilson

CORVALLIS, Ore. — William Ely Wilson died April 6. He was 86.
   He lived in New Jersey, Wyoming and Arizona before moving to Corvallis.
   He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring in 1977.
   A state champion target shooter, his other interests included hunting, gunsmithing and carpentry. He built two of his homes.
   He was a life member of the Citizens Rifle Revolver Club of New Jersey and a member of the National Rifle Association, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, Bullshooters Club of Sheridan, Wyo., and the Lions Club of Story, Wyo.
   He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marion Wilson of Sheridan; daughters JoAnne Walstad of Corvallis and Billie Conover of West Windsor; son William E. Wilson Jr. of Ewing; and sister Virginia Morgan and brother Walt Wilson, both of New Jersey.
