If introduced when expected, the public hearing and adoption vote could be held during council’s regularly scheduled June 2 meeting.
By John Tredrea:
The Pennington Borough Council decided Monday night to schedule a special meeting for introduction of the borough’s 2003 budget, on which work sessions involving council members and other public officials are continuing to take place.
The meeting for budget introduction will be held at Borough Hall at 7 p.m. April 28.
A majority vote of council is required to introduce the budget. Once it has been introduced, state law requires that at least 28 days pass before the council may cast an adoption vote on the budget. Also required is a public hearing on the budget before the adoption vote.
After the budget has been introduced, it will be published as a legal notice and will available for public inspection at Borough Hall.
If council introduces the budget as expected April 28, the public hearing and adoption vote could be held during council’s regularly scheduled June 2 meeting.
