Clara Martin, 94, of Monroe died Monday, April 14, at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Perth Amboy, she resided in Perth Amboy most of her life, moving to Monroe five years ago. She was an executive secretary with Jacobson, Goldfarb and Tanzman in Woodbridge for the past 51 and a half years.
Ms. Martin received an award from the Woodbridge Township Chamber of Commerce as Secretary of the Year in 1987. She was honored in 1999 as New Jersey’s Outstanding Older Worker in Washington, D.C., at the annual Prime Time Awards Ceremony in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor.
She was a former member and secretary of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Perth Amboy. She was a former Perth Amboy Democratic committeewoman. She was also a member of Deborah Heart and Lung Center. She also contributed to various organizations such as New Brunswick God Squad and the Salvation Army.
Her husband, Joseph, died in 1972. She is survived by her two daughters, Clarie Boles of Texas and Dr. Marie T. Martin of Monroe.
Burial took place at Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Fords.
