PENNINGTON COUNCIL UPDATE

By John Tredrea
Free mulch will be available at Kunkel Park and the Senior Center beginning April 26, Pennington Borough public works supervisor Jeff Wittkop reported at the April 10 borough council meeting.
Mr. Wittkop added that anyone wishing to have leaves picked by Department of Public Works should put them in plastic bags and leave them at curbside. Brush should not be mixed in with leaves.
The borough Water Department pumped 9,134,000 gallons of water in March, a daily average of 294,600 gallons, Mr. Wittkop said. This is up from March 2002, when 7,608,000 gallons of water were pumped, a daily average of 245,000 gallons.
Trash picked up by Public Works last month weighed a total of 74.03 tons, up slightly from last year’s 73.64 tons.
A total of 2,743 miles were logged on Public Works vehicles in March. Non-road equipment was used a total of 54.3 hours.
