The Battle of Monmouth Rockets U12 soccer tryouts, for players born between 8/1/91-7/31/92, will be held in early May. The team is looking for talented, committed players at all positions. The Sayreville Lady Blue Devils, an under-11 girls travel soccer team, upped its record to two wins and one loss, with a 2 -1 victory over the Freehold Soccer League Rising Stars. Both goals were scored by Sarah Barnes. Solid play in the midfield and defense by Alyssa Amabile, Lanie Andrews, Brianna Heatai, Dani Hogan, Staci Jankielewicz, Chelsea Nelthropp, Jorden Nolan, Stephanie Pagano, Shawna Rodgers, Emily Roshetar and Alyssa Stetson put the Lady Blue Devils in a tie for second place. The goaltending duties were handled by Rachel Harning and Emma Murray.

The Girls Soccer League of Old Bridge will be holding a dedication ceremony to honor two of its coaches who died in the WTC attack on 9/11. The league will be dedicating and renaming the two fields on Higgins Road for Chuck Costello and Mark Schulman, along with the unveiling of plaques remembering the two heroes. The ceremony is set for Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Greater Middlesex Conference Football Coaches Association will hold its 13th Annual Spring Football Demonstration Clinic on May 1 from 4 to 9 p.m. at East Brunswick H.S.
