MONROE — A dispute between brothers led to the arrest of one brother and another family member Wednesday after police were called to a residence on Old Forge Road at 8:37 a.m., police said.
Police said they did not know what started the altercation.
Thomas Kapler, 22, was charged with making terroristic threats, obstructing the administration of the law and resisting arrest. Mr. Kapler’s sister, 20-year-old Sherri Kapler, was charged with simple assault of a police officer after she pushed an officer while Mr. Kapler was being arrested, police said.
Police arrived at the home and were told by the victim that Mr. Kapler had threatened to slit the victim’s throat, according to police. While police tried to speak with Mr. Kapler, he began yelling and proceeded to lock himself inside the home, police said.
Another family member provided the officers with access to the home. While attempting to arrest Mr. Kapler, he pulled away and ran into the woods behind his residence, police said. He was caught by Officer Brian Burns.
While police were walking Mr. Kapler toward the patrol car, Ms. Kapler pushed Officer Raymond Helge, police said.
Mr. Kapler was taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center and released Wednesday after posting $25,000 bail.
Ms. Kapler was taken to Monroe Township Police Headquarters and released under her own recognizance.
