Newly re-elected school board members Michael Brindle, Michael Wilson and Michael Winka were sworn into office Monday night at the Lawrence Township Board of Education’s annual reorganization meeting.
The school board members also re-elected Mary DiMartino and Laurel Goodell as the board president and vice president, respectively, for the 2003-04 school year at the meeting, which was held in the Lawrence High School Library.
Mr. Brindle was sworn into office for his fifth term. Dr. Wilson was sworn into office for his second term and Mr. Winka for his third term. The terms are for three years.
In nominating Ms. DiMartino for her fourth term as school board president, Mr. Winka said he was "pretty pleased" with the board leadership.
School board member Ann Casale nominated Ms. Goodell for a fourth term as school board vice president. She said she had worked with Ms. Goodell on several board subcommittees and had a chance to observe Ms. Goodell’s commitment to the children, the staff and the district.
In other business, Ms. DiMartino asked the board to reconsider its subcommittees and report back with suggestions at the May 14 meeting.
With the passage of the school bond referendum, the board must turn its attention to other issues and there may be a need to reorganize the subcommittees in terms of their focus, she said.
