BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP In response to this winter’s snowstorms, the Township Committee passed an ordinance Monday making certain streets in the municipality emergency snow routes.
Officials said the ample snow this past January and February brought difficulties for the Public Works Department because some residents would not remove their cars from the roads to aid the snow removal process.
In response to the problem, the Township Committee met with officials from the Public Works and Police departments to determine which streets could be designated emergency snow routes.
The new ordinance ensures that if a state of emergency is declared by the township’s Office of Emergency Management, no cars will be parked on the roads designated emergency snow routes. Signs will soon be put up to mark the routes, officials have said, and a method of alerting the public in the event of emergencies will be worked out.
If a resident refuses to move his or her car, the ordinance states, it will be removed by the police at the cost of the owner. The owner also would be subject to a $50 fine.
The following streets are the designated snow routes: Adirondak Road, Cayuga Road, Longview Drive, Meadow Run Drive, Rising Sun Road from Hedding Road to Route 130 North, Hedding Road, from Rising Sun Road to the Mansfield Township Line, Dunns Mill Road, between Routes 130 and 206, Municipal Drive, Clifton Mill Drive, Holloway Lane/ Williamsburg Drive, Yorktown Road, Constitution Drive, Cemetery Lane, Thorton Lane, Charles Bossert Drive, Ward Avenue, Amboy Road/Klein Drive, Van Drive, between Amboy Road and East Drive, East Drive, Maple Avenue, Groveville Road, Hogback Road, from Groveville Road to Route 130 North, Honeyflower Drive, Mission Road, Carmen Avenue, Bywater Road, Glen Road/Cedar Hill Road/ East and West Edgewood Road.
