Weekend’s Democratic debate is proof that the campaign season has become far too long.

Need evidence that the presidential election season is just way too long?
How about a debate among the announced candidates a full eight months before the Iowa caususes and the need to handicap the results?
Terry M. Neal in his Talking Points column in the Washington Post today offers his color commentary on the debates, raising questions about approach, tactics and the like, leaving the important questions off the table (such as, what do each of the candidates stand for).
Mr. Neal does address "the issues," but only as part of the larger strategy of vision and not to allow readers and voters to get a sense of what these candidates might actually do in the election and the White House.
It is not all his fault, of course. The candidates are not exactly interested in discussing the issues.
All of it just makes it appear as if we’re in for a long election campaign.
