Benefit held for Medical Center’s June Fete Auction.
Dr. Dorothy Shepard graciously opened her home on Library Place Thursday to host a High Afternoon Tea to benefit the Auxiliary of The Medical Center at Princeton’s 50th June Fete Auction. Attendees were asked to donate a treasured item to be auctioned at the Fete, A Fair to Remember, in June.
All of the donations were appraised by Alfred’s Auction of Hightstown. Items brought to the tea included jewelry, silver, crystal and china, including Simon Pierce and Lenox bowls, and many pieces of artwork. Alfred’s estimated that the contributions at the Tea have a value of over $6,000.
The guests were pleased to celebrate the 50th Fete while helping to fund the establishment of the MCP’s Breast Health Center through their donations. The Tea was one of the many pre-Fete activities that this year’s co-chairs, Bettie Greber of Princeton and Karen Fagard of Skillman, have planned to make the 50th the grandest Fete ever.
A Fair to Remember will be taking place on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Princeton University Athletic Fields on Washington Road. As always, it will be a day of festivities, food and fun.
Preceding the Fete itself will be Up, Up and Away: A Golden Celebration Dinner Dance, on Friday, June 6, at 8 p.m., in the great tent at Princeton University Athletic Fields. Introducing the dinner dance, at 6 p.m., there will be a preview of Fete shops, art, and auction items. For Up, Up and Away tickets, call (609) 921-6016.
The Fete’s special auction will feature a silver 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK 320, valued at $48,475, provided by Mercedes-Benz of Princeton. Only 1,500 tickets will be sold. The Fete will also feature a 50/50 raffle, with tickets on sale prior to and during the day.
Items for the Fete’s auction, flea market and clothing tent are still being accepted through May 24 on Tuesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. through noon at the storage facility at Princeton House on Herrontown Road.
