Robert "Bobby" Walter Sinkler of Princeton died Friday at home. He was 86.
   A native of Summerville, S.C., he was a longtime Princeton resident.
   Mr. Sinkler retired from Princeton University after serving 36 years as an athletic trainer.
   He was the playground director for the Princeton Recreation Department for 20 years in the summer program and supervisor for all Princeton playgrounds for five years.
   A substitute teacher in the Princeton Regional Schools since 1960 and part-time physical education instructor at John Witherspoon Middle School and St. Paul School, he coached Little League teams for 10 years and umpired New Jersey high school track meets until last week.
   In 1972, he received the Amateur Award by the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame. In 1975, he was selected as an athletic trainer for the Pan-American Games in Mexico City and for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games in Montreal. From there, he attended a reception at the White House to honor the United States Olympic teams and Jesse Owens.
   He was given the Princeton University Alumni Council Award for service to Princeton in 1977. The Friends of Princeton University Hockey honored Mr. Sinkler in 1981 at the Dartmouth game. The All-American Football Foundation gave him the Top Athletic Trainer Award in 1999.
   Mr. Sinkler is an honorary member of the classes of 1938, 1962 and 1978 at Princeton University.
   He was a member of the Princeton Township Recreation Committee for 10 years. He also served on Gov. Robert B. Meyner’s Recreation Advisory Committee, campaigned for Princeton Township Committee in 1954 and was Princeton’s Man of the Week in a 1955 Town Topics. He was invited to the presidential inauguration of Lyndon B. Johnson.
   He recently served as a member of the board of trustees of the Princeton Senior Resource Center.
   He was a graduate of Bordentown Military Institute and Rutgers University, with a major in economics and sociology. He attained certificates for auto mechanics as a youth, physical therapy from the State Board of Medical Examiners, and a substitute teacher’s certificate for all grades and subjects from Mercer County.
   Mr. Sinkler served for three years during World War II as a technical staff sergeant in the 429th Medical Ambulance Battalion.
   A longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, he was captain of the new building campaign, an usher and the golf expert at the rummage sales.
   Husband of the late Phyllis Furey Sinkler, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Joyce S. and Stanley Robinson, Carol E. Sinkler and Ellen S. and Thomas Gideon; and grandchildren Whitney Robinson, Gail and Robert Gideon.
   A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 33 Mercer St., Princeton.

Antonio D’Angelo of Princeton died Saturday at The Medical Center at Princeton. He was 76.
   Born in Roccamandolfi, Italy, he was a Princeton resident 45 years.
   He retired after 35 years at Princeton University.
   Mr. D’Angelo enjoyed spending time with his family and tending his vegetable garden.
   Husband of the late Cristina C. D’Angelo, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Ludovico and Georganne D’Angelo of Ewing, Claudio and Gilian D’Angelo of Lawrence and Dino and Jennifer D’Angelo of Lawrence; sisters Filomena Ciallella of Princeton and Pierina Scasserra of Australia; two brothers in Italy; and one brother in Canada.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton.
   Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery.
   Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton, Ave., Princeton.

David T. Sheppard

David T. Sheppard of Princeton Township died Friday in Lawrence. He was 30.
   Born in New Haven, Conn., he was a graduate of Lawrence High School and attended Mercer County Community College and Rutgers University.
   He was an employee of Petsmart in West Windsor and was named employee of the year.
   He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville.
   He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marilyn McCabe and Dr. J. Brandt McCabe of Princeton; father and stepmother Dr. Gerald T. Sheppard and Anne Sheppard of Scarborough, Ontario; brothers Stephen M. Sheppard of Toronto and Jonathan McCabe of Princeton; sister Elisabeth Leggett of Toronto; maternal grandmother Marie Rohrig of Santa Ana, Calif.; and paternal grandparents Thomas and Emma Sheppard of San Pablo, Calif.
   A memorial service will be held noon Friday at Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Lawrence.
   Visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.
