Letter: Make Sam Stewart interim superintendent

To the editor:
South Brunswick is involved in controversy. Who will be our new superintendent of schools? How fortunate are we to have a town where, even though the people often disagree, they are still interested enough to care what will happen?
What has taken place is that a large group of people learned about the background of the probably appointee of the superintendent and their concerns have had an effect so that he is no longer being considered for the position. We don’t know why the board of education member Paul Prodromo was so in favor of the candidate when he was obviously not the right person for the job.
An excellent superintendent is difficult to find. There has to be a match in philosophy, personality and willingness to listen to all concerned parties such as staff, board of education members, parents and children. While the district is looking for this unique leader, we would suggest that Sam Stewart be asked to continue in his position until the right person is found. Appointed an unknown interim or hastily finding a new superintendent would be unwise for South Brunswick.
