Light eyed for Rt. 130

The Township Council agrees with the state — Route 130 can be safer.
That’s why it passed a resolution Tuesday supporting a state Department of Transportation decision to install a traffic light at the intersection of Route 130 and Broadway Road.
Accident statistics persuaded DOT officials to call for a light at the intersection, said Mayor Frank Gambatese.
DOT officials did not return phone calls Wednesday.
Mayor Gambatese said the Traffic Division of the South Brunswick Police Department considers the intersection dangerous and endorses the plan.
Resident Ben Diggs said he supports installing the signal.
"When you’re trying to get out of Broadway Road onto 130, you can’t get off of Broadway Road," he said.
