Obituaries for week of May 8

Alex Golembeski
   Alex R. Golembeski died April 30 after a 18-month battle with metastatic colon cancer.
   Born in Trenton on April 27, 1940, he lived in Lawrence Township most of my life.
   A 1957 graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys High School, he was employed by Columbian Carbon-Chemicals for 34 years, retiring in 1993. He lived in Monroe, La., for 13 years while in their employ. He was also employed by Firmenich Inc., for five years, retiring in 1999.
   The son of the late Alexander L. and Vera Borodunovich Golembeski, and son-in-law of the late George and Grace Smith, all of Lawrence Township, Mr. Golembeski is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy; a daughter, Debra Dow, and her husband, Doug; a son, Gary Golembeski; five grandchildren, Carrie Palombi, Melissa Golembeski, Stephanie and Jamie Dow and Matthew Golembeski; two sisters, Dolly Shaddow and Janice Howell; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
   A private cremation will be held at the convenience of the family, under the direction of Poulson and Van Hise, Lawrenceville. There will be no calling hours.
   The family requests no sympathy bouquets. Memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053-3101.
Ann Stearns
   Ann MacEslin Stearns, 42, of Lawrenceville, died May 3 in the Medical Center at Princeton, after a battle with breast cancer.
   Born in York, Pa., she was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 10 years. She was employed with the Forum Company in Manhattan for the past four years and previously had been with Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, for 17 years.
   A graduate of York Suburban High School, York, Pa., class of 1978, she also graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., class of 1982.
   Ann was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville.
   She is survived by her parents, Donald and Nancy Dismukes MacEslin of Seven Valleys, Pa.; her children, Bradleigh E., Austin H. and Tyler M. Sterns, of Lawrenceville, and David S. MacEslin of Chesapeake, Va.; her former husband, James B. Stearns, Jr., of Lawrenceville; several nieces and nephews and a multitude of supporters.
   Her "Life Celebration" was held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. Private burial took place in the Lawrenceville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road.

Frank Whyte
   Frank J. Whyte, age 75, of Hamilton Township died on Saturday at home.
   Born in Galway, Ireland, he was the son of the late Daniel and Bridget Whyte. He has lived in Hamilton Township for 45 years.
   He was the former owner and operator of Suburban Barber Shop of Ewing for over 40 years. He had also been employed at General Motors of Ewing for 10 years.
   A member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, he held a fourth degree in the Knights of Columbus Incarnation Council and was a member of the Trenton Elks.
   Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Bridget Josephine Whyte; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank N. and Nan Whyte of Lawrenceville; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen J. And Stanley J. Vare of Gwynedd Valley, Pa.; four sisters, Maisie Armalaya and Pauline Green in England, Helen Palmer and Rita Chapman of Melrose, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 9 a.m. at Kingston and Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Avenue, Hamilton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Ewing Cemetery.
   In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate Mass cards.
Antonio D’Angelo
   Antonio D’Angelo, 76, died Saturday at the Medical Center at Princeton.
   Born in Roccamandolfi, Italy, he has been a Princeton resident for 45 years. He retired after 35 years of service from Princeton University.
   Mr. D’Angelo loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and found great enjoyment in his vegetable garden.
   Husband of the late Cristina C. D’Angelo, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ludovico and Georganne D’Angelo of Ewing, Claudio and Gilian D’Angelo of Lawrenceville and Dino and Jennifer D’Angelo of Lawrenceville. He has five grandchildren, Julian, Cristiano, Colin and Nicholas. He is also survived by sisters, Filomena Ciallella of Princeton and Pierina Scasserra of Australia; two brothers in Italy and one brother in Canada.
   A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, May 7, at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 214 Nassau Street, Princeton. Interment followed in Princeton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton.
   Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
David Sheppard
   David T. Sheppard, 30, died on Friday, May 2 in Lawrenceville.
   Born in New Haven, Conn., he was a graduate of Lawrence High School and attended Mercer County Community College and Rutgers University, New Brunswick campus.
   He was a valued employee of Petsmart of West Windsor Township and received the honor of Employee of the Year. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville.
   He is survived by his mother and step-father, Marilyn McCabe and Dr. J. Brandt McCabe of Princeton; father and step-mother, Dr. Gerald T. Sheppard and Anne Sheppard of Scarborough, Ont., Canada; two brothers, Stephen M. Sheppard of Toronto, Canada, and Jonathan McCabe of Princeton; one sister, Elisabeth Leggett of Toronto, Canada.
   A memorial service will be held on Friday at noon at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton.

Catherine Michaud
   Catherine S. Michaud, 83, of Lawrenceville, died Monday at home.
   Born in Park Falls, Wisc., she had resided in Lawrenceville for 25 years. Ms. Michaud was a former shipping clerk with Lenape Products in Pennington, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville.
   Daughter of the late Alois and Katherine Stromeyer Schmidt and wife of the late Bernard J. Michaud, she is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas B. and Linda Michaud, Gary P. and Gloria Michaud and David A. Michaud. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a brother, Leo Schmidt.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Hamilton. Friends may call today (Thursday), from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road.
   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of St. Ann Faith Development Center, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Elinor Reilly
   Elinor Fink Reilly of Lawrence Township, died Saturday in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
   Born in Trenton and a lifelong area resident, Ms. Reilly was a retired school nurse after 40 years in the Trenton public school system. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and received her bachelor of science in nursing from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in N.Y.
   Daughter of the late Harold J. Fink, Sr., and Catherine McGovern Fink, sister to the late Harold J. Fink, Jr., and wife of the late Richard Reilly who died in 1996, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Francis Casey of Brighton Beach; her sister-in-law, Ann Fink of Hamilton Township; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
   A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday in the Sacred Heart Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Hartmann Funeral Home, 2830 Nottingham Way.
