St. Paul Church to host Irish heritage concert

   Broadway star Ciaran Sheehan, former lead in the Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, is performing Broadway to Galway, a one-night-only benefit concert, on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau Street.
   Mezzo-soprano Fiona Murphy and Eily O’Grady, internationally known Irish pianist who is widow to the late, great tenor Frank Patterson, will join Mr. Sheehan in a concert of traditional Irish songs and classics of American musical theater.
   Mr. Sheehan comes to St. Paul Church at the invitation of Monsignor Walter Nolan, pastor of St. Paul Parish, who is a close friend of the tenor.
   Born in Dublin, Mr. Sheehan grew up on both sides of the Atlantic. He attended Notre Dame High School in Lawrence.
   In addition to lead roles in The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, Mr. Sheehan has performed in Grandchild of Kings, The Molly Maguires and Pultizer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt’s The Irish. . . And How They Got That Way.
   His television appearances include Law & Order, One Life to Live, and Another World.
   Broadway to Galway will benefit St. Paul’s sister parish, Our Lady of Lourdes in Nakasongola, Uganda, and the St. Paul School Science Lab.
   Tickets are $20 for advance purchase, $15 for children. Tickets at the door will be $30. All tickets are general seating. The church doors will open at 7 p.m.
