Bresnahan, Hutchinson and Meadowbrook among roads targeted for repairs this summer.

WASHINGTON The rough winter will be followed up with some road improvements this summer, as the Township Committee has approved the repaving of portions of Bresnahan, Hutchinson and Meadowbrook roads, among others.
"Our roads are in terrible shape after the severe winter and they were in poor shape before the severe winter," Mayor Doug Tindall said. "One of the things government does is provide safety of the residents and having these roads in such poor repair is a danger to our residents."
Some of the repairs occur on roads that are shared with neighboring East and West Windsor townships, he said. In those circumstances, the Township Committee has turned to Mercer County to divide up the labor and material costs.
The improvements to Meadowbrook and Hutchinson roads are approved and contractors have been hired, Mayor Tindall said.
"Both roads have really been blown apart from the severe winter that we had," Township Engineer John Reymann said.
Also planned is a new sidewalk on the south side of Hutchinson Road, between Ambleside Drive and Washington Boulevard, for the residents of the Foxmoor development.
Later in the summer, Mr. Reymann anticipates improvements to Sharon Road between the N.J. Turnpike crossing and Windsor Road.
Potts Road, which straddles Upper Freehold and Washington townships, also is expected to be reconstructed in the late summer, Mr. Reymann said.
He said all of the construction would not happen concurrently, and that there would not be any road closures or reroutings during the repaving process.
"Our intention is to keep these roads open to traffic," he said.
The funding for these projects is coming from both last year and this year’s municipal budgets, he added.
Allens Road, which Mr. Reymann said is "severely deteriorated," is up for a contracting bid May 20 and also will be repaired this summer.
