MONROE A Monroe resident and a passenger in his vehicle were hospitalized Wednesday after their vehicle overturned in a two-car crash on Buckelew Avenue at its intersection with Mounts Mills Road.
James M. Campbell, 42, of Buckelew Avenue, the driver of the overturned vehicle, a 1996 GMC Jimmy, suffered injuries to his head and an arm.
He was listed in critical condition Thursday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
The passenger, Kathleen Bien, 37, of Freehold was treated for an arm injury at Robert Wood Johnson.
A spokesman for the hospital said Thursday that Ms. Bien had been released.
Police said Mr. Campbell’s SUV was traveling south on Buckelew Avenue shortly after 11:15 a.m. when a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, driven by Annette N. Fucci, 46, of Drummond Way, traveling west on Mounts Mills Road, attempted to cross Buckelew Avenue.
Police said Ms. Fucci’s SUV struck Mr. Campbell’s GMC Jimmy causing it to rotate counterclockwise and overturn.
Mr. Campbell and Ms. Bien were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by the Monroe Township Emergency Medical Services.
Police said Ms. Fucci was not injured.
