WEST WINDSOR — This year’s Township Council race may be uncontested, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t come out and vote, candidates say.
"This is definitely a unique and first-time situation we have here this year," said Councilwoman Kristin Appelget. "But I still think it’s important to ask everyone to remember to come out and vote Tuesday, especially in light of the war in Iraq and the many members of our community who have put their lives on the line to defend the freedoms we enjoy every day."
Ms. Appelget is running for re-election to the Township Council with fellow council member Charles Morgan. Newcomer Franc Gambatese is running for the spot soon to be vacated by longtime Councilwoman Rae Roeder, who decided not to run again this year.
All three seats carry four-year terms.
Ms. Appelget, president and chief executive officer of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Morgan, president of Nonqualified Benefit Funding at Prudential Financial, say they are running to continue to bring professional, responsible government to the township.
Mr. Gambatese, general manager of the Home Depot in the Nassau Park shopping center, believes his managerial and communication skills will be an asset to the council.
Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
