Leonard M. Oliveri of Kendall Park died Friday, May 9, at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.
He was born in Brooklyn and lived in Northvale before moving to South Brunswick 20 years ago. He was a crossing guard for Princeton Township for 10 years before retiring in January 2001. Prior to moving to South Brunswick, he worked as a district manager in the circulation department of the Bergen Record. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of corporal, and receiving six Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct medal. He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Church in Kendall Park. He was also a member of the South Brunswick Senior Center.
His wife, Beryle, died in 197l. Mr. Oliveri’s three brothers, George, Anthony and Frank, also died before him. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Alan Trojanowski, a grandson, Jason Trojanowski and a granddaughter, Jaclyn Trojanowski, all of Monmouth Junction; a son, Marc Oliveri; a daughter, Ann Boffa of Highland Park, N.Y.; six other grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial took place at Holy Cross Burial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of MJ Murphy Funeral Home in Monmouth Junction. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s University Hospital, Oncology Unit, 254 Easton Ave., New Brunswick, N.J. 08901.
