MANVILLE Samuel J. Brazinsky Sr. "The Chief" died Monday, May 12, in Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Born in Kulpmont, Pa., he resided in Pennsylvania for a number of years.
Mr. Brazinsky joined the United States Marines and played on the All Service Team. Upon his discharge from the United States Marines he signed on with the Buffalo Bisons and a year later became the Buffalo Bills. He moved to Manville in 1948.
Mr. Brazinsky worked for John’s Manville Research Center. In 1954 he and his late wife opened Family Shoe Store on South Main Street which they operated until her death in 1998, at which time he retired.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville.
He had served as president of the Manville Chamber of Commerce and was head coach of the Manville Colts football team in the 1960s.
His wife, Dolores A. (Sebes) Brazinsky, died in 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Sam Jr. of Branchburg and Jack of Stanton; a sister, Dorothy Jones of Ringtown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. May 16 from Fucillo and Warren Funeral Home, Manville, followed by a 9 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
