E-Squared Award Dinner was held Friday at the Hopewell Valley Golf Club, with 140 people attending.
The Hopewell Valley Foundation’s fourth annual E-Squared Award Dinner was held on Friday at the Hopewell Valley Golf Club, with 140 people attending.
Sally Turner was given the individual E-Squared award for her 12 years of service to the Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education. Ms. Turner served on the board as both an active member and president.
"Sally worked hard to make life better for that one child, our community, and the school system," said Robert Sopko, superintendent.
Yardville National Bank received the corporate award for contributions to the school district and the Hopewell Valley community. From the creation of a Student Banking Program, to funding scholarships for Central High School students, and supporting school fund-raising events, the bank has shown commitment to the Hopewell Valley community.
Accepting for the bank was Tim Losh, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
E-Squared represents Education and Enterprise. The award is designed to honor an individual recipient and one corporate recipient who have made a difference in the lives of children in the Valley school distinct.
The individual is chosen based on the time and talent he or she has given as a volunteer, and the corporation is chosen based on its contributions of financial, human, and other resources to local school children.
The district’s six Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award recipients and their guests attended the dinner, courtesy of the foundation through a donation from the Hopewell Valley Community Bank. Each teacher was presented with a $200 check from the foundation. This award money is to be used by the teachers to benefit their classrooms.
Bristol Myers Squibb and Merrill Lynch were gold sponsors. Silver sponsors included Yardville National Bank, and Pennington Quality Market. Proceeds from this event will be used to sponsor school programs during the 2003-2004 school year.
