To the editor:
If a full sized baseball field were built near the school, it could be utilized by all of the sixth- through eighth-grade classes during the school day and for after school games with other schools. In addition, it could be used during the summer months for programs like Babe Ruth Baseball as well as organized adult baseball. Accordingly, the "one percent utilization by residents of this town" (as indicated by the Cusworths in the referenced letter to the editor) appears to be rather low.
A key point left out of their letter is that our blue ribbon school does not have a regulation baseball field available for their spring baseball program. Thus, all games with other schools must be played away. As previously stated by others, our elementary school is one of the very few in central New Jersey that does not have a regulation sized baseball field available. It seems to us that if the school is going to have sports programs, then the facilities need to be provided.
