To the editor:
My son has played flag football in our town for the last two years. He and his friends have thoroughly enjoyed the PAL fall flag football program.
The news of no more fall flag football has both disappointed and/or disgusted every parent and child I have spoken with over the last four days since we heard the news.
It is a big loss to this town and the children who enjoyed the program. Can someone involved in this poor decision please answer these questions for me?
(1) Why is the fun and enjoyment of the 120-150 children who play fall flag football being sacrificed for the 10 to 20 children that the Pop Warner Program thinks it can grab for its program?
Recent articles stated that the Pop Warner program didn’t have enough talent to draw from.
But, if I’m not mistaken, they won the state championship last fall. So apparently they have enough talent. Leave our flag football players alone.
(2) Why are you taking the choice of flag football verses full contact Pop Warner football away from us and our children?
If the flag football kids and their families wanted to go out for Pop Warner they would have.
(3) Do you really believe that our boys are going to give up their spring baseball to play spring flag football?
Get real, I predict the spring flag football fields will be empty while our kids are busy playing spring baseball like every other kid in America.
You don’t realize how disappointed you have made 120 children and their families.
