Americans are becoming more intolerant of dissenters.

Here’s a scary story for anyone who loves the liberties this country still offers.
Pulitzer Prize winner Chris Hedges, a reporter with The New York Times and author of "War Is a Force that Gives Us Meaning," was booed during his keynote speech Saturday at Rockford College in Illinois.
In his speech, Mr. Hedges described war as a dangerous addiction that could alter the American character and would further isolate us in our relations with the rest of the world.
Students booed, rushed the stage and turned their backs on the reporter further example of the shrinking space for dissent in post-9/11 America.
There is a good piece on this trend in The Nation by Alisa Solomon (unfortunately, it is not available on line) that ties together the seemingly disparate events of the last few years.
