HOWELL — In an effort to better reflect the style and type of church it is, the Howell Baptist Church will become Howell Community Church.

According to a press release, the Howell Community Church (HCC) is a contemporary, upbeat, family-oriented church with a come-as-you-are atmosphere.

The press release states that without compromising the message of Jesus Christ, the directors have made church fun, exciting and relevant for parents and children alike.

The focus of the HCC ministry is on families with children. There is an annual Vacation Bible School, free carnivals and Sunday morning Children’s Discovery Hour.

On Family Day, the first Sunday of every month, families stay together for the whole service and special activities are planned so they can worship and learn together. The teenagers have a youth group that meets every Friday evening.

The teaching at HCC is about topics that affect people’s everyday lives. Topics include what God has to say about how to raise our children better, how to have a better marriage, how to be happier, how to be more content, and how to deal with co-workers.

Instead of adult Sunday school and Wednesday night services, the HCC has small groups meeting in different locations on different nights of the week. They study topics ranging from raising boys, to living in freedom, to learning how God has gifted and equipped us, to studying different books of the Bible.

Howell Community Church meets for worship and Sunday school at 10:30 a.m.; Youth Group is Friday at 7:30 p.m.; and various home groups meet through the week.
