FREEHOLD — Police responded to a report of a large fight at the Post and Coach apartment complex on South Street at 7:30 p.m. May 18.

According to Freehold Borough police Capt. Michael DiAiso, officers found a large group of people outside the complex and specifically observed two subjects running toward the rear of the apartment complex. The two subjects refused to stop when ordered to do so by the officers and a foot chase ensued, according to the captain.

The officers subsequently apprehended the two individuals. DiAiso said Carlos Michuy Alania, 24, of South Street, and Juan Carlos Pena Bastisa, 29, of South Street, were each charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of the administration of the law. Both subjects were processed and released.

While officers were processing the two men at police headquarters, a second call came in to the station, requesting police presence back at the Post and Coach apartment complex. Upon their arrival, officers were advised by a female victim, 36, that a person had threatened to cut her throat with a kitchen knife.

Police said the victim identified the suspect as Freddy Castros, also known as Victor Farfan. Police responded to Castros’ apartment in the complex. DiAiso said Castros told the officers that he had sustained a laceration to his head in the initial altercation at the complex.

Castros was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon (a knife), making terroristic threats and unlawful possession of a weapon. DiAiso said Castros identified Roberto Vega Lopez as the man who hit him in the head with a baseball bat during the first altercation.

Castros was taken to CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, where he was treated and released, and then placed in the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in default of $7,500 bail.

Lopez was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and assault. He was placed in the county jail in default of $7,500 bail.
