New Hope

   May 7, police arrested a 14-year-old Lambertville youth and charged him with retail theft and underage possession of alcohol after a CVS employee apprehended him attempting to conceal a portable disk player in his backpack, police said.
   Police found a bottle of Meyers Rum in the backpack after his arrest, police said.
   May 12, Harriet Gratz, owner of the Gratz gallery on West Bridge Street, called police at 1:30 to report a theft of a painting sometime between May 7 and 12.
   Taken was a landscape by Helen McCarthy valued at $7,500. A suspect described as a white female came into the gallery May 7 and talked about a friend’s artwork, police said.
   The painting was not discovered missing until the owner returned from a trip May 12.
   May 17, Stephen V. Matalavage, 35, of South Main Street, New Hope, charged with drunken driving at 11:45 p.m. after being stopped on Route 179.
   He was taken to Doylestown Hospital for a blood alcohol test and later transported home after his arrest.
   May 18, Julie Zwirko, 41, owner of Trimmings on South Main Street, called police at 7 p.m. to report criminal mischief to her storefront garden causing $70 in damage.
   Sometime overnight, vandals pulled up various planted flowers.
Solebury

   May 20, police investigated two motorcycle accidents on Route 32 at the intersection of Chapel Road at approximately 6:35 p.m.
   The first motorcycle was driven by Dennis J. Scherer, 34, of Glen Stewart Drive, Trenton. He was going south on Route 32 and failed to make a curve in the road due to his speed, police said.
   The second cycle was driven by Peter A. Hill, 38, of Osborne Avenue, Morrisville, Pa.
   Both drivers were taken to Doylestown Hospital by the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad and Central Bucks Rescue Squad.
   The investigations is continuing.
   Police have begun their enforcement of the new speed limit on Windy Bush Road.
   As a result, 25 speeding violations were issued Tuesday, May 20, by two enforcement units of the department.
   Police also issued 14 citations for vehicles failing to stop for the stop signs on Windy Bush Road.
   Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident on School Lane at approximately 6 p.m. Friday, May 23.
   A vehicle driven by Alexander B. Gall, 18, of Fleecydale Road, Lumberville, Pa., leaving a private driveway, failed to yield the right of way and failed to see a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old from Comfort Road, New Hope.
   There were no injuries reported, and both vehicles received moderate damage but were driven from the scene.
   Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Street and Mechanicsville roads.
   A vehicle driven by Sumathi, 50, of Daystar Drive, Doylestown, was going north on Street Road, entered the intersection and was struck by a vehicle driven by Seth R. Stacy, 25, of Manor Drive, Dublin.
   Mr. Stacy and a passenger, Jordan Taylor, also of Manor Drive, were taken to Doylestown Hospital by Central Bucks Rescue Squad.
