COSAC to honor Beer for autism fund-raising

Mitchell Beer of Cranbury, a certified financial planner with an office in East Brunswick, will be honored for his fund-raising work on behalf of people with autism at the annual statewide COSAC (New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community) conference planned for May 30 and 31 in Atlantic City.

Beer, who will be one of 10 honorees at the convention, will receive COSAC’s Development Achievement Award. Beer’s niece and nephew, who live in Ocean County, have autism. He credits COSAC and its programs with the progress the children have made. As a result, he founded the BFG Golf Tournament in 2001. To date, the annual event has generated more than $35,000 for COSAC.

The statewide conference, one of the largest autism-related conferences in the nation, attracts more than 1,300 attendees over two days.

COSAC is the largest network of parents and professionals concerned with autism in New Jersey. Founded in 1965 and based in Ewing, it is a nonprofit agency providing education, services and advocacy for New Jersey’s autism community.
