Woman, 44, injured in crash

SPOTSWOOD — A borough woman was injured last week when her car struck a utility pole on East Main Street.

Police said Kathleen M. Drude, 44, was driving in the westbound lane at 2:44 p.m., May 28, when her vehicle went off the road and crashed head-on into a utility pole. The accident caused the pole to snap in half. As a result, the electrical wiring from the pole fell and landed on top of Drude’s vehicle.

Police called JCP&L to shut off power so that Drude could be removed from the vehicle.

Drude suffered injuries to the head, face and chest, according to police. She was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. A spokeswoman there confirmed this week that she had been treated there and was later discharged.

In addition to the police, the Spotswood First Aid Squad, and the Spotswood and Monroe fire departments responded to the accident.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
