Programs added to ‘Summer Adventure Camps’

The "Summer Adventure Camps" offered at Brookdale Community College, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown, will add a new two-week program, "Set Design/Technical Crew," for students entering grades six-nine in the fall.

"Tech 1" will be held June 30-July 11, and "Tech 2" July 14-25; all classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The fee for each two-week session is $345. The program provides campers with a first-hand experience in theater set design and construction. Course code is XCHLC 036.

Two one-week sections of "Journey to College" will be offered for high school students entering grades nine-11. Dates are July 7-11 and 14-18 from 9 a.m. to noon. The course fee is $150. Students will be guided in selecting a program of study, determining a career path and identifying colleges to best meet individual needs. The course code is XCHLC 058, and students are advised to register as soon as possible.

A "Young Children’s Fine Art Camp — Advanced" will be offered for students entering third and fourth grades. Programs will be held July 14-25 from 9 a.m. to noon; the fee is $250. Children will learn about different artists and art concepts, and experiment with art activities relating to the artists’ inspiration, techniques and style. The course code is XCHLC 060.

Three new art programs will be offered for students entering fourth and fifth grades. "One Stroke" will be offered both July 28-Aug. 1 and Aug. 11-15. "Color My World with Art" will be held both Aug. 4-8 and 18-22, and "Arts & Crafts" will be offered July 28-Aug. 1.

All classes will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and each course is $220. "One Stroke" will feature the painting method seen on QVC TV, with painting subjects such as Van Gogh’s "Sunflower," a lighthouse and a tropical scene. The course code is XCHLC 054.

"Color My World" will instruct children in the use of various art techniques, methods and mediums, and is suited to beginners. The course code is XCHLC 052. "Arts & Crafts" combines paints, colored sand, beads and a variety of other materials for students to combine interests and explore creativity. The course code is XCHLC 044.
