GERALDINE C. CARR McCARTHY, 70, of Hazlet died June 29 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, she resided there before moving to Hazlet 33 years ago. She was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was an operator at N.J. Bell Telephone, Jersey City, for 15 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila L. and Bill Ferinden of Middletown; her son and daughter-in-law, Sean W. and Eileen McCarthy of Howell; her former husband, William McCarthy of Brick; two sisters, Alva Larkin of Texas, and Mary Ann Barry of Lakewood; and several nieces and nephews. Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, N.J. Region, P.O. SOLEDA "SALLY" PRIETO, 88, of Howell died July 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in West Virginia, she had lived in Ohio before moving to Howell more than 50 years. Mrs. Prieto was a school bus driver for Howell Township for 27 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Howell Seniors. Her husband, Richard M. Prieto, died in 1992. Surviving are two sons, Richard V. Prieto of Brick and Ronald G. Prieto of Melbourne, Fla.; a daughter, Ramona L. Kurtz of Howell; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and friends Taylor and Olga. KATHLEEN BROWN, 67, of Yardley, Pa., died July 3 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, Pa. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Manalapan before moving to Pennsylvania 10 years ago. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She was a former communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Her husband, Frank Brown, died in 1998. Surviving are four sons, Frank Brown Jr. of Readington, Michael Brown of Brick, Daniel Brown of Levittown, Pa., and Patrick Brown of Georgia; a daughter, Amanda Brown of Cedar Grove; a sister, Noreen Pryor of Brooklyn; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens, N.Y.

Jean Good Evans, 81, of Manchester, died June 25 at Manchester Manor Rehabilitation Center, Lakehurst, after a long illness. Born in South Amboy, she moved to Manchester eight years ago. Before retiring in 1977, she was em­ployed by Charles Komar & Sons, South Am­boy, for 18 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy. She was also a member and past president of the South Amboy First Aid Squad Ladies’ Auxiliary and a former member of the South Amboy Senior Citi­zens. Mrs. Evans was predeceased by her hus­band, Harold, May 5. She was also prede­ceased by a brother, Edward Good. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Jack Eisner, of Brick; her son, Harold Evans, and his wife, Debbie, of Waverly, N.Y.; her grandson, Joseph, and his wife, Peggy Doyle of Point Pleasant; and a great-granddaughter. Services were held at the Gundrum Funeral Home, 237 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy. Mass was at St. Mary’s Church in South Amboy. Entombment was in St. Mary’s Mausoleum in South Amboy.

Ronald Korkowski, 68, of Brick, died July 1 at Atlantic City Medical Center. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he lived in Aberdeen before moving to Brick nine years ago. Mr. Korkowski was em­ployed as a supervisor for U.S. Metals for over 20 years, and as a carpenter for N.J. State Psychi­atric Hospitals for many years. He was a mem­ber of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Toms River, and a councilman at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Keyport. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Fischer Korkowski, of Brick; a daughter, Bonnie Reed of Stanhope; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Robert Reynolds of Howell; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and MaryAnn Korkowski of Howell; a brother, Ray­mond Korkowski of Cliffwood; two sisters, Roberta Larsen of Carteret and Rita Hood of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and seven grandchildren. Fu­neral services were held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Toms River. Mr. Korkowski was pri­vately cremated. Memorial donations to Debo­rah Heart and Lung are appreciated.
