The class of 1963 at Monmouth Regional High School in Tinton Falls, the first class to graduate from the school, is holding a 40th reunion at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Italian American Memorial Association (IAMA) in Long Branch. Betty Hill Child, who is organizing the celebration with Linda Marceau Morgan, said they had been talking for some time of having a reunion.

Sickles Market in Little Silver is hosting its fourth annual "blues" festival, in celebration of the blueberry, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Sickles, 1 Harrison Ave. just off Rumson Road, noted that the state of New Jersey is the second-largest blueberry producing state in the country, producing more than 40 million pounds of cultivated blueberries each year.
Activities for children at the festival include the "Bee Lady" with her beehive from noon to 2 p.m., blue face painting from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a blueberry pie-eating contest for kids at noon and 2 p.m. Sickles employees will compete in the annual employee blueberry pie-eating contest at 4 p.m.
There also will be blues music by Holly Baines and Sauce from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and by Barbara King from 2-5 p.m.

The Source, Red Bank Regional High School’s Youth Services Program, received a $13,000 grant from The United Way of Monmouth County. The funding will go toward mental health services, academic support, and recreation.

Toilet-trained 3- and 4-year-olds are being sought for participation in Red Bank Regional High School’s Preschool Lab class this fall.
Under the direction of Child Development teacher Susan Eads, high school students will supervise the children in activities such as arts and crafts, games, music, and basic sound and letter recognition.

John Stives, who just stepped down from the Shade Tree Commission, was commended by the Borough Council for his role in making the borough the desirable community it is today. At the council’s July 7 meeting, Stives was recognized for his 39 years of service as a member of the Shade Tree Commission. He recently resigned from the commission because he was moving out of town.
"John Stives is the last of the charter members and has served the borough of Little Silver since the establishment of the Shade Tree Commission in 1964," the resolution says.

Navesink Maritime Heritage Association, Fair Haven, will hold its fifth annual boat-building event July 18-20 during "Family Boat Building Week of 2003" sponsored by WoodenBoat Magazine, Brooklin, Maine.
