The township of Brick and Mayor Joseph C. Scarpelli announced the winners of the Fourth Annual Student Poetry Competition. They are as follows:
In the high school level, Eric Sullivan won first place; Lauren Fulton, Dana Nicole Kennedy, Jake Kleinknecht and Nicholas Slininger all tied for second place; Mara Musillo, Marco Noto and Monica Ward all tied for third place. All of the above students were from Brick Memorial High School
In the middle school level, Amy Arata and Samanta Rogers, both of Veterans Memorial Middle School, and Ashley Campos of Lake Riviera Middle School all tied for first place; Scott Stoppiello and Jessica Verville, both of Veterans Memorial Middle School, and Carly DeLaHoz of St. Dominic’s Catholic School all tied for second place; Francesca Muscatello of St. Thomas Christian Academy, and Carly DeLaHoz of St. Dominic’s both tied for third place.
Gabrielle Pozzi of St. Dominic’s School won first place on the elementary school level. Second place went to Chris Austin of Veterans Memorial Elementary School, and third place went to Brianna Aslhenfelter of Osbornville Elementary.
On the Primary Learning Center level, first place winners included Taylor Morgan, Jacqueline Poglodek, Cheer Tsang and Cheryl Lin.
St. Dominic’s plans
August thrift sales
Beginning Aug. 2, the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Shop of St. Dominic’s Church on 250 Old Squan Road in Brick will have a $4 Bag Sale, featuring men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, as well as shoes, handbags, and belts. Housewares and linens are not included in the Bag Sale, but are on sale for half price. The Bag Sale will run through the month of August.
