Dolphin mailbox stolen from residents’ home

It was our 35th anniversary gift to each other. We had it mailed from Longboat Key, Fla. It was "Harvey," our dolphin-shaped mailbox, and I loved it.

He was perfect in front of our home. We live on a corner in Brick, and when we put Harvey up two weeks ago, everyone loved him, too. People would beep and yell, "Radical mailbox," "Cool mailbox," and so on. It made us feel we were "down the shore," and we’ve only been here one year. I’ve wanted to be here since I was a child near the ocean.

Yesterday morning I awoke to find Harry gone. Someone ripped him and my mail from us and left part of his stand. I’m so brokenhearted. I realize he was just a mailbox, but as I said, I loved it. How could someone be so mean? Even if it was kids, don’t people care at all about other people? I’m trying to get over it, but I’m very sad now when I pull in my driveway or leave. I’m reminded again of how cruel this world can be.

He was 4.5 feet tall and medium gray holding a gray mailbox – just in case anyone finds him.
