The recent Relay for Life fund-raiser at Lakewood’s FirstEnergy Park is evidence that community spirit is alive and well in our town.
Participation in the weekend event came from wide a spectrum of our community — from youth groups to senior citizens. Everywhere you looked, you saw evidence of the commitment of the team members who gave their time and energy in the fight against cancer — walking the course, in the hundreds of luminous bags which lit the stadium to memorialize and honor those who have battled this dread disease.
A special thanks to Rita and Ralph Michel, who chaired this year’s relay. To the survivors, the teams and the many who contributed to this important cause, we salute you all.
