John Reid

   LAMBERTVILLE — John G. Reid, 94, of Lambertville died Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township.
   He was a lifelong resident of Lambertville.
   Mr. Reid served in the Navy from 1932 to 1934 and in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of the VFW Post 7921 in Lambertville.
   He retired from Stout’s Machine Shop in West Amwell as a machinist. He enjoyed woodworking.
   Mr. Reid was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Lambertville.
   Son of the late Gordon and Mary Masterson Reid, he is survived by his wife, Evelyn Beck Reid; a son and daughter in law, Gordon D. and Sally Reid of Ringoes; two granddaughters, Judith Reid of West Amwell and Joan Reid of Ringoes; and a great-grandson, Ronald Reid of Ringoes.
   Funeral services and burial were private and under the direction of the Garefino Funeral Home, Lambertville.

Frederick Tucker Jr.

   TRENTON — Frederick W. "Sonny" Tucker Jr. died Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton.
   Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident. He lived in Yardley, Pa., many years.
   He was in the Army Reserves.
   Mr. Tucker was retired after 15 years as a plumber with the Crest Ultra Sonics.
   He enjoyed car races.
   He was the son of the late Frederick W. Tucker Sr. and Dorothy Rodenbach Tucker and father of the late Sonny Lynn Tucker.
   Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Sheryl A. Hartley Zsizseri Tucker of Trenton; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Frederick W. Tucker of Florida, Michael J. and Carol Zsizseri of New Egypt, David W. and Lisa Tucker of New Egypt, Glenn Zsizseri of Ohio and Frederick W. Tucker III of Trenton; seven daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie M. and Tim Thomas of Trenton, Kimberly Tucker of Lambertville, Jackie Tucker of Trenton, Denise Zsizseri and Dave Simonson of Hamilton, Sherry L. Tucker and her partner, Meslissa Corralles, of Trenton, Stacey L. Tucker and Luis De Leon of Morrisville, Pa., and Shana L. Tucker of Trenton; 14 grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Joe Solarsky of Trenton; three brothers and sisters-in-law Howard and Marie Tucker of Florence, William and Marilyn Tucker of Hamilton and David and Dorothy Tucker of Morrisville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
   Arrangements were under the direction of Chiacchio Southview Funeral Home, Trenton.
Dolores Kovalcik

   NEWTOWN, Pa. — Dolores "Dodie" Marie Kovalcik, 72, died Monday, Aug. 11, in Newtown.
   Born in Akron, Ohio, she was a graduate of Akron University and taught home economics for four years.
   She lived in Yardley and St. Petersburg, Fla., since 1969.
   Ms. Kovalcik attended St. Ignatius Church and was a participant in church activities, serving as president of the women’s organization. She also was a member of St. John’s Parish in St. Petersburg.
   Until her recent illness, she was an active golfer and a competitive tennis player. She was a member of the Yardley Country Club where she served on various women’s committees.
   In St. Petersburg, she was a member of Isla Del Sol Country Club and was a participant in the tennis program, serving on the tennis committee and editing the monthly newsletter.
   Daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary Tassi Germano, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Kovalcik Sr.; four sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and Loren of Boston, James and Susan of Maple Glen, Pa., Thomas and Daniela of New Hope and David and Karen of Yardley; a sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline Germano and Guiseppe Cassano of Rome, Italy; 15 grandchildren, Katie, James "J.R.," Jarret, Kelsey, Daniel, Christopher, Anston, Madison, Karina, Alexandro, Juliano, Henry "Hank," Gracie, Charlie and Lucie; her mother-in-law, Catherine Kovalcik of Akron; three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Catherine and Don, Regina and Jerry and Martha and Lou; and two brothers-in-law and their wives, Larry and Joan and Joe and Pat.
   The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today (Aug. 14) from the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, Yardley. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, Yardley. Interment will be private.
   Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn.
Martin Strycharz

   LAWRENCEVILLE — Martin J. Strycharz, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 10, in the Veterans Administration New Jersey Health Care System in Lyons.
   Born in Trenton, he had resided in Lawrenceville for 53 years.
   Mr. Strycharz retired in 1978 as a re-fireman with American Standard after 30 years of service.
   He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Medal. Mr. Strycharz was injured while stationed in Hawaii in 1944 and spent three years in the Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D.C.
   He was a member of the Lawrence Post 3022 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Trenton American Legion Post 458.
   Mr. Strycharz enjoyed trips to the shore and salt-water fishing.
   He was the son of the late John and Agnes Strycharz, father of the late Donald Strycharz and widower of Helen "Cookie" Strycharz.
   Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. and Tammy Strycharz of Lawrenceville; two granddaughters, Kim Kost of Buckingham, Pa., and Terry Michaud of New Hope; three great-grandsons, Kyle and Derek Kost and Jake Michaud; a daughter-in-law, Eva Martha Strycharz; a sister, Ann Landolfi of Trenton; two brothers and five sisters-in-law, Stanley "Sherlock" and Mania Strycharz of Trenton, John "Gene" and Ruth Strycharz of Mercerville, Helen Witkowski of Trenton, Jean Oliver of Hamilton Township and Ann Mitchell of Mercerville; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services will be held today (Aug. 14) at 10 a.m. from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
