Cranbury siblings look good on links

A pair of Cranbury siblings recently had strong showings in the local Golf Channel Putt, Chip and Drive qualifier at Colts Neck Golf Club.
Jessica Doyle finished in the Top Three golfers in the 10/11-year-old age group, and qualified for the regional tournament in Hershey, Pa. Her brother, Sean, finished in sixth place due to an uncharacteristic four-putt.
Not to be denied, Sean tried his hand at another local qualifier at Hershey, prior to the regional, and took first place out of 70 competitors. Sean finished first in putting, second in chipping and fifth in driving.
The Doyle siblings then competed in the Golf Channel Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship against 15 competitors in their own age group, who came from five previous competitions in Akron, Ohio, Hershey, Pittsburgh, Eatontown and Pennsauken.
After a long day of competition, Sean finished second and Jessica took sixth. Only the winner advanced to the National championship in Florida.
Jessica’s first drive at the regionals was short and did not reach the fairway, and her second shot also went awry which destined her to an 11th-place finish in driving. Sean was beaten by a talented competitor who chipped one in after Sean had made one less putt.
Sean also finished second in the New Jersey U.S. Kids qualifier this year.
