FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — Certif-icates of achievement were handed out to the members of the Freehold Township Little League Junior League baseball team in recognition of the team’s accomplishment in winning the 2003 Junior League State Championship.
The certificate congratulates and honors the 13- and 14-year-olds for their exceptional efforts and dedication to community athletics.
The team was honored at the Township Committee’s Aug. 26 meeting. Monmouth County Freeholder Ted Narozanick also commended the team and read a proclamation from the Board of Freeholders. The squad finished tournament play this summer with a record of 14-2.
Township Committeeman Anthony Ammiano said this is the second year in a row the team has been the state champions.
"We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the Little League as a whole and especially proud that the Junior League has won it two years in a row. I went to a number of games. They displayed leadership, character and good sportsmanship during the playoff. The manager, the coaches and the players performed outstandingly"
Manager Charles Wilmot’s team consists of 11 players. They are Jason Baggitt, Brian Cooney, Ryan Cuneo, Dominick Hayes, Michael Kinsella, Chase Majewski, Stephen Murphy, Jason Nardi, Stephen Panarese, Andrew Rusbarsky and Rodger Wilmot. The coaches are Fran Hayes, J.D. Rusbarsky and Bob Kinsella.
