The Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2003 Spinnaker Award honorees. The 12th annual awards ceremony will take place Nov. 13 at Branches in West Long Branch.
This year’s recipients include William L. Phillips, certified financial planner, who will be honored as Volunteer of the Year; Monmouth County Clerk M. Claire French, who will be honored as Elected Official of the Year; and Kathleen Brady, director of the Monmouth County Department of Human Services and deputy county administrator, who has been named by the Spinnaker selection panel as Appointed Official of the Year.
Also, Wall-based Security Transfer & Storage Co. will receive the Community Service Award; the Two River Community Bank, Rumson, has been named the Corporate Good Neighbor; and Red Bank’s own Navesink House will be honored as Nonprofit Organization of the Year.
The EMACC also announced that two new directors have been named to the chamber’s board.
Timothy Hogan, president of Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, and Christopher Ruisi, a certified business coach with Action International, have been named to fill the unexpired terms of two directors who have resigned.
Hogan, who was recently named a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, joined Riverview in 2001 as the medical center was embarking on a $63 million expansion. He will fill the unexpired term of Christine Burke, director of public affairs for Meridian Health, which expires in 2005.
Prior to his business coaching affiliation, Ruisi spent more than 25 years in the insurance industry, most recently as president and chief executive of US LIFE Corp. He will fill the seat vacated by Debbie Caffyn, property manager for Terranomics at The Grove in Shrewsbury, whose term expires at year’s end.
Currently celebrating its 75th anniversary, the EMACC was founded in 1928 by 12 Red Bank businessmen and now serves a membership of more than 600 in an area encompassing Eatontown, Fair Haven, Little Silver, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury and Tinton Falls.
