The Marlboro Jewish Center will commemorate the 30-day anniversary of those killed in the Jerusalem suicide bombing with a special memorial service and candlelight vigil Sept. 18, 8:30 p.m. at the Marlboro Jewish Center, 103 School Road West. All are welcome.
"Shloshim, the 30-day period following a death, marks the end of the primary mourning period," said Rabbi Neil Sandler. "It is commonplace at its conclusion to remember those who have died and what they contributed to our lives."
"While Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups continue their homicidal acts against Israel, American Jews must strengthen and affirm their support for Israel and outspokenly condemn the murderers," said Martin Wallack, chairman of Marlboro Jewish Center’s Israel and World Jewish Affairs Committee. "We are gathering on Thursday evening to show our support to our Israeli brothers and sisters … in action … and … in prayer. Additionally, we call upon our elected government officials to condemn this bombing and show their support to the only true democracy in the Middle East, the state of Israel. To the 20 people murdered on Aug. 19, may your names be blessed, and to their families and loved ones, please accept our deepest condolences," Wallack said.
