Wellness Day scheduled

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — Centra-State Healthcare System and Friends’ Health Network will present a Gala Day of Wellness on Oct. 26 from 1-5 p.m. at The Greystone Manor, South Street.

The program will feature nationally renowned speakers and authors Deepak Chopra, M.D., Bernie Siegel, M.D., and Rabbi Harold Kushner. Book signings will be available.

Edward Soffen, M.D., a board-certified radiation oncologist at CentraState Medical Center, will provide a presentation on the latest innovations in medical technology. There will also be a health fair, providing free medical screenings and wellness information. Tickets are $50 in advance, and $65 at the door. Chopra is a nationally renowned speaker and author, best known for his books, lectures and PBS television specials on health, wellness and spirituality. He will speak about individuals’ pure potential.

Siegel will share insights from his highly acclaimed best-sellers "Love, Medicine and Miracles" and "Prescriptions for Living." He seeks to intertwine humor, compassion and inspiration to offer life-changing insight.

Kushner is the author of the best-selling book "When Bad Things Happen to Good People." He has provided empathy and wisdom to millions of people, especially in times of grief, hardship and loss. He will combine popular culture, traditional scholarships and his engaging style to illuminate life lessons based on his study of the 23rd Psalm.

Soffen is the medial director of the new Radiation Oncology Department at CentraState Medical Center, and is one of the pioneers in the use of radioactive seed implantation in New Jersey, according to a press release. He will use present the latest advances in a variety of 21st century medical treatments.
