In 1999 when James Phillips ran for mayor, I openly opposed his candidacy. In the four years since the last mayoral election, I have had many opportunities to speak with Jim Phillips on a variety of issues which affect the people of Old Bridge.
One thing I learned is that for a man who has chosen to be a public figure, he is remarkably unassuming. I have also learned that if there is a problem, he will handle it quickly, efficiently and quietly.
Jim Phillips cares deeply about the town he grew up in, and he has very definite ideas on how to make it a place where people will continue to want to live and raise their children. He also has the leadership qualities and courage necessary to guarantee that his dreams will become a reality for Old Bridge.
Most important of all, I believe Phillips recognizes that as mayor he will be in a position of public trust, and he will not disappoint the voters who put him there.
