Freehold Township High School, Elton-Adelphia Road, will be the site for this year’s College and Career Fair for students in the Freehold Regional High School District.

The Oct. 30 fair is provided as an introduction to college and post-secondary schools and career opportunities for sophomore, juniors and their parents.

"The Freehold Regional High School District runs one of the largest college fairs in the country," said Superinten-dent of Schools James Wasser. "Because we are a large district, we attract a large number of state and national colleges and universities."

He said the fair provides an excellent starting point for students and their families to explore college programs, advanced vocational programs and technical programs, and their costs.

Tickets will be required for the appropriate session, juniors from 6-7:30 p.m. and sophomores from 7:30-9 p.m. There will be a three-ticket maximum per family and tickets will be distributed in sophomore and junior homerooms in each school in the district.

Residents of the regional district whose sophomore and junior students attend private schools or are home schooled may obtain tickets from the guidance office at the high school for which they are districted. Residents must provide proof of residency and their child’s grade level. Tickets may be picked up now.

Parking is limited at Freehold Township and carpooling is recommended. Students must park at their regular high school and use shuttle buses that will be provided. Restricted parking spaces are only available at Freehold Township for the handicapped.

There will be shuttle buses available from each high school in the district. Buses are expected to leave each school every half hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. for juniors and their parents, and beginning at 7 p.m., every half hour for sophomores and their parents.

Buses will take guests from Freehold Township back to the home schools.

Attendees will have a chance to speak briefly with representatives from about 250 colleges, universities, technical-vocational schools, career schools and the armed services.

Participating colleges and universities include Boston University, Brandeis University, Brookdale Community College, Cornell University, The College of New Jersey, Columbia University, George Washington University, Hofstra University, the University of Pennsyl-vania, Rutgers University and the universities of Connecticut, Delaware Maryland, Massachusetts and Michigan.

There will also be representatives from trade schools including the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Atlantic Cape Community College, Berkeley College, Capital Health System School of Nursing, Chubb Institute, Cittone Institute, Concorde School of Beauty, the Culinary Institute of America and the DeVry University.

Additionally, representatives from the New Jersey Army National Guard, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Air Force and Navy will be attending the FRHSD College and Career Fair.

The college and career fair is sponsored by the guidance service departments at each of the district’s six high schools.
