Man arrested on drug charges

METUCHEN — Police arrested a Plainfield man on charges of distributing drugs in the borough.

Miguel A. Garcia, 22, was arrested on Oct. 22 and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, intent to distribute, distribution of drug paraphernalia, and intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, according to Metuchen police officer David J. Liantonio.

Garcia was arrested by police Cpl. John Franklin while allegedly trying to gain entry into his own 1999 Kia on Durham Road, Liantonio said.

The front seat of the car was covered with $1 bills and little baggies, according to police.

Inside the car, police found two bags of cocaine, suspected drug paraphernalia and a pair of binoculars, Liantonio said.

Garcia was sent to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center, North Brunswick, on $10,000 bail with no 10 percent option, Liantonio said.
