Township Democrats interested in politics, not fairness

I have been a resident of Old Bridge for more than 31 years and a registered Democratic all my life.

The action of the four Democratic Township Council members with regard to the back-pay issue for our new police chief, Thomas Collow, has irritated me. It seems to me that they are more interested in the political aspects of their actions instead of doing what has been done in the past.

There was no problem with our previous chief getting his sick pay, but he is a Democratic Party member. Some Democratic council members only take care of their own. I am sure if a different chief was appointed, one with political ambitions, the Democratic councilmen would have tripped over themselves to award the sick pay. It’s a shame when the politicians have to play games and not do the proper thing.

I would like to congratulate Councilman Kevin Calogera, Councilman Richard Greene and Councilwoman Lucille Panos for the action they took. Our current mayor did the proper thing when she appointed Chief Collow to this position because he has no political ambitions and is just devoted to running the police department. Politics should stay out of the day-to-day operations of the various township departments, but as we know, it does not.

I live in Ward 4 and am proud of Councilman Calogera for making decisions based on what is best for the people of Old Bridge and not for the Democratic Party.
