Fort Monmouth was recently designated as the New Jersey Center for Defense Technologies and Security Readiness by Gov. James E. McGreevey and U.S. Representatives Rush Holt (D-12th District) and Frank Pallone Jr., (D-6th District).
The designation serves to underscore the role Fort Monmouth plays in defense of the nation, both at home and in foreign lands. It can also enhance funding opportunities for homeland security applications.
Systems developed at Fort Monmouth play a direct role in aiding troops in the war against terrorism, with its Firefinder radar used during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
