Search for Pennington clerk-administrator under way

The new hire will replace Karen Waldron, who was not reappointed recently.

Pennington Mayor Jim Loper said during Monday night’s Borough Council meeting that the borough would have a new clerk administrator by the "beginning of the year."
The new hire will replace Karen Waldron, who worked in Pennington for three years. Council voted unanimously a month ago not to reappoint her as clerk-administrator.
Ms. Waldron made $80,000 annually — $40,000 for clerk and $40,000 for administrator. No salary amount was listed in the advertisement seeking applicants for the position.
The mayor said the borough received 60 resumes in response to an advertisement for the job. "Three-fourths of the resumes were eliminated right away," Mr. Loper said, because those applicants did not have the needed credentials.
"Nine of the remaining 15 applicants have been interviewed once," the mayor added. "We’d like interview three or four more of the others."
The mayor said the hiring process calls for narrowing the field down to a few finalists, each of whom would be interviewed by the Borough Council, with key staff members present during the interview.
