EATONTOWN — A roofer working at the Staybridge Suites construction site was critically injured in a fall from the roof of the sixth floor.
The worker fell down four stories, to a portion of the building which protrudes from the main structure.
Police said the injured man, Innocen Grijalba, 28, of Trenton, suffered severe internal and spinal injuries in the fall Nov. 26 and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s trauma center in Neptune.
He was listed in critical condition by the hospital on Tuesday.
According to police, Grijalba had been working on the plywood sheathing when he fell from the roof of the hotel, which is located at 4 Industrial Way East. The cause of his fall has not yet been determined, police said.
Police said Grijalba was wearing a safety harness at the time of the accident but it was not secured to the roof.
