Director extends thanks for support of food bank

This is an open letter to the individuals and organizations who donated to the Old Bridge Food Bank.

Please accept our thanks for your ongoing support of the Old Bridge Food Bank (OBFB). We here in Old Bridge are extremely fortunate to have a community that cares and provides for those less fortunate through our OBFB services. Your contributions keep our shelves well-stocked.

Other food banks are not as lucky. The strong community backing of the OBFB was evident to me during the past Thanksgiving holiday when I read newspaper accounts and heard on radio and television how food banks in this area were struggling to fill their shelves. So, while surrounding towns were struggling, OBFB shelves overflowed from community donations. Our volunteers were thrilled.

Your kindness and dedication to the OBFB is the basis of our continued success. To the many area seniors, students and teachers, businesses, municipal government officials and employees, Scout groups and other organizations, you helped enable the OBFB to provide complete food baskets to almost 100 families. (This list is not all inclusive — my apologies if you are not listed.) And as you know, the OBFB is available year-round to Old Bridge residents who are in dire need and to those in emergency situations. Your gifts go a long way.

Once again, on behalf of the Old Bridge Food Bank staff and volunteers, please accept our thanks, not only for your contributions during this holiday season but also for your strong support all year long.

Your thoughtfulness and generosity are greatly appreciated. Thank you and happy holidays to you and yours.

K. Helen Rende, Ph.D.
